Marques Barrett Houston was born on August 4, 1981, in Los Angeles, California to Michael and Carolyn Houston. He got into acting at an early age. He is the older cousin of B2K's J-Boog.

Houston founded the R&B group Immature in 1992 consisting of members Jerome "Romeo" Jones, Don "Half Pint" Santos (who was later replaced by Kelton "LDB" Kessee), and their manager, Chris Stokes. Houston was known as Batman at this point, and in 1999, the group changed their name to IMx and released the two albums "Introducing IMx" in 1999 and "IMx" in 2001. The band did some acting, appearing on shows such as "A Different World" and "Sister, Sister" and recorded songs for soundtracks "House Party 3" and "House Party 4: Down to the Last Minute" before disbanding in 2002.

In 2003, Marques Houston ventured out on a solo career under his birth name and released his debut album "MH" in October of 2003 which hit number 20 on the Billboard 200 and number 5 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. He followed it up with the release of his second album, "Naked," in 2005, and it peaked at number 13 on the Billboard chart and number 5 on Billboard's Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. Houston then released the albums "Veteran" in 2007, "Mr. Houston" in 2009, "Famous" in 2012, and "Me" in 2022.

Acting Career

Marques Houston's acting debut came in the 1992 comedy "Bebe's Kids." He appeared in "House Party 3" in 1994. His breakout role came playing Roger Evans in the sitcom "Sister, Sister" from 1994 to 1999. He was in the movies "You Got Served" and "Fat Albert" and starred in the TV show "Cuts" in 2005 and 2006. In 1995, Houston won a Young Artist Award for Best Youth Comedian in a TV Show for his role in "Sister, Sister."

Film Producer Career

Marques Houston and his wife, Miya, have a daughter together named Zara. Houston's mother died from lymphoma in 1997. In 2016, he became a Jehovah's Witness.
